Hier ist ein zusammenfassender Überblick über die Episoden der ersten Staffel der Originalserie zu finden. Das Datum gibt die US-Erstausstrahlung an. In den USA wurden die ersten drei Episoden als Pilotfilm ausgestrahlt. Ebenfalls wurden die beiden Episoden "Kontakte zur Erde, Teil I und II" als eine einzelne Episode gezeigt. In Deutschland wurden diese Episoden in drei bzw. zwei Einzelfolgen aufgesplittet, weshalb hier im Episodenguide jeweils noch Bilder, Zusammenfassungen und Zitate fehlen.

Zusammenfassung Das Friedensabkommen der Menschen und Zylonen ist nur ein Trick von den völkermordenden Zylonen, bestimmt, um die gesamte Menschheit auszulöschen. Nur die Battlestar Galactica und eine kunderbunte Flotte überlebt und macht sich auf die Reise durch die Galaxie, auf die Suche nach der lange verschwundenen Schwester-Zivilisation auf der Erde. Angelockt durch den Planeten Carillon aufgrund der Treibstoffvorräte und wegen Entspannung überlebt die Flotte nur knapp eine Falle von den Ovions, einer im Untergrund lebenden, insektoiden Spezies, die mit den Zylonen verbündet ist. Zusammenfassung With many warriors suffering from an unknown ailment, Galactica recruits new Viper pilots — mostly young women, including Apollo's new bride, Serina. Led by Adama's spiritual interpretations, the fleet enters a vast magnetic void, emerging at the planet Kobol, their legendary home world. Before Adama can discover Earth's location from the inscribed hieroglyphs, though, a Cylon attack destroys the sacred city on Kobol — and claims the life of Serina. Zusammenfassung Starbuck is captured by the Cylons while the fleet continues through the mysterious black void to a fateful rendezvous with the planet Kobol that may hold the secret to the lost thirteenth tribe. Zusammenfassung Herded into a confined area of space, the fleet must pass within close range of a lethal Cylon pulsar cannon—unless an expedition from Galactica can assault the ice-bound fortress housing the weapon. Apollo, Starbuck, and Boomer lead a team of cut-throat demolitions and cold-weather experts (and the stowaway Boxey). Along they way, they encounter the misguided human scientist who originally built the weapon, as well as his legions of clones. Zitat Adama: There's not all that much difference between you and your fellow convicts and us. We are all living for the promise of freedom, and we're all threatend by a similar death. Wolfe: Perhaps it was the chains that made the difference.

Zusammenfassung Galactica is reunited with Pegasus, a sister battlestar previously thought destroyed. Led by the legendary and sometimes arrogant Commander Cain, the fleet is torn in its loyalty between Adama and Cain, but they eventually join forces in a daring attack on the Cylons. Zusammenfassung As Viper pilots go missing, Apollo, Starbuck and Sheba come across a lone, enigmatic survivor. Much to their amazement, he claims that he can help them in their quest. Zusammenfassung With the engimatic Count Iblis usurping Adama's command of the Fleet, Apollo and Starbuck endeavor to find out the mysterious origins of their guest-turned-savior before all is lost to Iblis. Zusammenfassung An old con man, Chameleon, works his way into Starbuck's life to avoid being tracked down by blood-thirsty Borellians. Zusammenfassung When Starbuck is implicated in a rival Triad-player's murder, Apollo and Boomer come to his defense as Protectors. They eventually uncover a plot involving Karibdis, a traitor alongside Baltar in the destruction of the Twelve Colonies. 19	Kontakte zur Erde, Teil I	25. Februar 1979
Zusammenfassung A human sleeper ship found drifting in space is brought aboard Galactica, leading to argument and debate on whether to awaken its occupants. Their ship is eventually escorted by Apollo, Starbuck, and Cassiopeia to the planet Paradeen—embroiled in a bitter war with the Eastern Alliance. Zitat "xxx"

22	Kriegsgefahr	18. März 1979
Zusammenfassung The mysterious bright lights return again, transporting the bewildered Apollo to the planet Terra to avert war with the Eastern Alliance. Exposing a plan by the devious president, Apollo has Starbuck warn Galactica, which lends the protective powers of its shields to avoid planetary holocaust. 23	Die Meuterei	1. April 1979
Zusammenfassung Starbuck encounters long-lost love Aurora amidst a mutinous rebellion aboard the Celestra. Zitat "The morale of the fleet continues to rise, due in part to the increasing number of habitable planets we are encountering, and the reintroduction of some of the amenities our people enjoyed before the destruction of the colonies. Once again, although on a limited scale, we are able to partake of music, and the theater, and, when the occasion warrants, even indulge ourselves in ceremony." -- Adama
24	Die große Schlacht	29. April 1979
Zusammenfassung Commander Adama decides to quit running from the Cylons, and launches an all-out attack on a basestar. Zitat Colonel Tigh: She carries three hundred fighters. Has two long range mega pulsars... here... and here. And over a hundred defensive laser turrets. She's an orbiting killer... capable of destroying every ship we have... including the Galactica. Starbuck: (to Boomer) That's what I like about the Colonel... his optimism.
