Als sich die Flotte dem Ionischen Nebel nähert, beginnen vier Leute, Saul Tigh, Samuel Anders, Tory Foster und Galen Tyrol, fragmente einer seltsamen Melodie zu hören, die nur sie hören können. Die Melodie beginnt klarer zu werden, je näher die Flotte dem Nebel kommt.
Nachdem die Flotte den Nebel erreicht, beginnt die Melodie[1] ein unangenehmes Ausmaß zu erreichen. Die betroffenen Kolonialen beginnen die Melodie nun nicht nur ganz zu hören, sondern auch Textteile hinzuzufügen. Als die Flotte aus ungeklärten ründen unter Stromaufall leidet und in Dunkelheit stürzt, zwingt die Melodie die Vier sich in einem isolierten Raum zu treffen.
Die Vier sind in der Lage die Textfragmente mit der intakten Melodie zusammenzufügen um ein seltsames Lied zu bilden. Die musikalische Erfahrung der vier bringt ihnen ein "A-ha"-Erlebnis, denn die Melodie ist wie ein Schalter, der umgelegt wird und plötzlich wird ihnen bewusst: sie sind Zylonen. Die Quelle oder Ursache für die Melodie ist nicht bekannt (Crossroads, Part II).
Am Ende der Episode beginnt das Lied als Hintergrundmusik für die Zuschauer zu laufen. Dies ist der vollständige Text, der gesungen wird:
