Überblick

Den Zylonen und Baltar gelingt es, in den Tempel der Fünf auf dem Algenplaneten zu gelangen. Dort erhält D'Anna eine Vision und sieht die Gesichter der letzten fünf Zylonenmodelle, stirbt aber. Baltar wird kurz darauf von den Kolonialen gefangengenommen. Sharon gelingt es unterdessen, ihre Tochter von den Zylonen zurückzuholen.

  • Alle in Galacticas CIC, auch Colonel Tigh und President Roslin sind nervös und geschockt, als Admiral Adama fortfahrt, die Startvorbereitungen für die Nuklearwaffen zu treffen. Er befiehlt Colonel Tigh seine Startcodes einzugeben und macht selbiges auf seiner Befehlskonsole.
  • Auf dem Algenplaneten bereitet sich Lee Adamas Gruppe auf die Zylonen vor. Der Major und Samuel Anders streiten aber immer noch darüber, ob Kara Thrace, dessen Raptor von einer zylonischen Rakete getroffen wurde und abgestürzt ist, gerettet werden soll. Nachdem Anders sagt, dass er den Major serschießen werde, wenn Thrace stirbt, antwortet er mir "IWenn sie tot ist, lasse ich dich" und verbirgt somit nicht mehr seine Gefühle für sie. Die Situation entspannt sich, nachdem Adama seiner Frau, Dualla und Sergeant Fisher, befiehlt Starbuck zu retten.
  • In der vorigen Episode warnten die Kolonialen die Zylonen davor dass sie den gesamten Kontinent auf dem sich der Tempel befindet verwüsten werden, sollten die Zylonen versuchen dort zu landen. Sechs Schwere Jäger sind nun auf dem Weg zum Planeten und Adama zeigt nun den Zylonen, dass er nicht blufft.
  • Das Basisschiff-Kommando beobachtet Adamas Startvorbereitungen und ist davon beunruhigt. Jedes der anwesenden Modelle stimmt sofort für einen Rückruf der Schweren Jäger, mit Ausnahme des Nummer Drei Modells, das dem Entschluss der Gruppe trotzt und sich weigert alle Jäger zurückzurufen.
  • Auf der Galactica bemerkt man den Rückzug aller bis auf einem Jäger, was Admiral Adama dazu veranlasst die Sache nocheinmal zu überdenken. Nach einigen spannenden Momenten hebt Adama den Startbefehl auf.
  • Auch die Zylonen sind nun erleichtert. Als Die Nummer Drei den Kommandoraum verlässt, bemerken die anderen, dass sie nun ein Problem haben: Die Zylonen sind eine Rasse, die gemeinsam Entschlüsse fassen und nicht von einzelnen Persönlichkeiten geführt werden. Ein Cavil meint, dass die Dreier außer Kontrolle sind und dass eine Entscheidung über ihre Aktionen gemacht werden müssen, eher früher als später.
  • In deren Quartier streiten sich Karl Agathon und seine Frau Sharon Agathon über seinen Plan, einen Raptor oder ein anderes Transportmittel zu nehmen und Hera von den Zylonen du retten. Sie sieht nur einen Weg, den aber Helo nicht gehen will. Sie fleht ihn an, es zu tun. Schließlich umarmt er sie, sagt ihr, dass er sie liebt – und erschießt sie dann, damit ihr Bewusstsein auf das Auferstehungsschiff übertragen werden kann und sie von dort aus allein nach ihrem Kind suchen kann.

Akt 1

  • Galen Tyrol und sein Team arbeiten weiterhin an der Entschlüsselung der Hiroglyphen im Tempel der Fünf, um die Position des Auge des Jupiters zu finden, das man für ein wichtiges Artefakt hält, welches weitere Hinweise für den Weg zur Erde gibt.
  • Admiral Adama und Präsident Roslin treffen sich mit Helo stellen deren Rettungsversuch in Frage. Adama ist besorgt, dass die Zylonen durch den Download freiwillig oder unfreiwillig kritische taktische Informationen erhalten könnten. Roslin wirft Helo vor, dass Sharon und er die ganze Flotte gefährden würden, worauf er aber zornig entgegnet, dass sich keiner von ihnen in dieser Situation befinden würde, hätte sie nicht ihr Kind entführt. Roslin sieht ihre Mitschuld ein, zeigt aber wenig Reue.
  • Dualla und Sergeant Fischer machen sich auf den Weg zu Starbucks Position, werden aber bald von einem zylonischen Heckenschützen angegriffen. Fisher stirbt dabei doch Dualle krabbelt unbewaffnet auf einem anderen Weg zu Starbucks Position.
  • Starbuck hat ihren Absturz außer schweren Verbrennungen an den Händen relativ unversehrt überlebt. Deswegen hat sie nicht ausreichend Geschicklichkeit sich selbst eine Morpha gegen ihre Schmerzen zu injizieren. Sie hört ein Geräusch außerhallb des Raptors und unterdrückt ihre Schmerzen, greift nach ihrer Waffe und richtet sie auf die offene Türe des Raptors.
  • Dualla kommt durch die Tür und Starbuck beschimpft sie, weil sie sich nicht bemerkbar gemacht hat. Nachdem Dualla ihr eine Morpha Spritze verpasst, macht sie sich an die Reperatur des Raptors.Sie erzählt Starbuck, dass ihr befohlen wurde, "Starbuck zu Apollo" zu bringen, eine Wortwahl, die weniger eine Rettungsmission bedeutet sondern eher ihren Schmerz über das "Geheimnis" zwischen Adama und Thrace beschreibt.
  • Sharon Agathon wird erfolgreich in einem neuen Körper wiedergeboren. Zufällig ist es Caprica-Sechs, die Agathon beim Auferstehungstank begrüßt. Sechst erzählt Agathon, dass ihr Kind krank sei, und sich ihr Zustand verschlechtere.
  • Auf dem Planeten habt Major Adamas Team eine Bomentodeszonein einem Bereich eingerichtet, den die Zylonen auf jeden Fall passieren müssen.

Akt 2

  • Da die Zenturios die Falle entdecken, ist Jean Barolay gezwungen die Bomben zu zünden, bevor sich alle Zylonen im Explosionsradius befinden.
  • Die Explosion sprengt zwar den unteren Teil eines Zenturios weg, doch dieser und die beiden unbeschädigten Zylonen eröffnen das Feuer. Die Kolonialen zerstören den beschädigten Zylonen, verlieren im Kampf aber einen eigenen Mann. Durch den Verlust ihrer einzigen Chance, die Zylonen aufzuhalten, beginnen sie ihren Rückzug in die Berge und wollen dort auf ihre Rettung warten.
  • Major Adama ruft Chief Tyrol an und befiehlt ihm die sofortige Evakuation und Sprengung des Temples, bevor er in die Hände der Zylonen geraten kann. Tyrol ist davon nicht begeistert, sagt seinem Team aber, dass sie rausgehen sollen und folgt ihnen später mit einer Rolle Sprengschnur die mit dem G-4 Sprengstoff verbunden ist.
  • Dualla repariert inzwischen die Avioniks indem sie Kabel vom Kommunikationssystem ausbaut. Als Starbucks Schmerzen stärker werden gibt ihr Dualla (mit einem unüblichen Verhalten gegenüber einem Kranken) eine weitere Morpha Injektion. Diese versetzt sie in ein Delirium worauf sie ihre Verwirrung über die romantischen Verstrickungen bekennt. Dualla schlägt Starbuck. Zum einen wegen ihrem Ärger und zum anderen um sie auf ein wichtiges Problem aufmerksam zu machen: der ehemalige Unteroffizier auf der Galactica ist nicht Flugerfahren und kann den Raptor nicht fliegen, während Starbucks Verletzungen es ihr unmöglich machen den Raptor selbst zu fliegen.
  • Gaius Baltar, die "D'Anna" Drei und ein Cavil stehen kurz davor den Temple zu betreten. Baltars virtuelle Sechs erscheint und erinnert ihn nocheinmal daran, dass er und nicht die Drei, "der Auserwählte" sei, der die Geheimnisse des Tempels auslösen oder erhalten soll.
  • Mit den anderen Kolonisten in sicherer Entfernung vom Tempel wiedervereint ist Tyrol nicht gewillt den Temple zu sprengen. Major Adama entreißt Tyrol den Zünder und aktiviert ihn, doch es passiert nichts. Sie wissen nicht, dass inzwischen Cavil, Drei und Baltar die Zündkapseln aus den G-4 Sprengsätzen im Tempel sofort nach ihrer Ankunft entfernt haben.
  • Auf der Galactica kann man derweil die sich ausbreitende Supernova beobachten. Admiral Adama stellt fest, dass den Kolonisten nicht einmal mehr eine Stunde bleibt.
  • Chief Tyrol und das Team sehen ebenfalls die Nova und der Chief erkennt, dass der Strahlenkranz der explodierenden Sonne, die sich über dem Tempel bildet, genauso aussieht wie das Mandala, das auch im Tempel zu sehen war, und schlussfolgert, dass dies das Auge des Jupiters sein muss. Das koloniale Team macht sich auf den Rückweg zum Tempel um dem nachzugehen.
  • Sharon Agathon und Caprica-Sechs erreichen Heras Room, wo Agathons Galactica Vorgänger, Sharon Valerii, das Kind betreut. Valerii ist sichtlich von Agathons Anwesenheit verärgert. Als Agathon ihre schreiende Tochter hochhebt beruhigt diese sich augenblicklich. Caprica ist ganz fasziniert davon, dass, obwohl Valerii und Agathon biologisch identisch sind, das Kind seine Mutter erkennen kann.
  • Agathon Erste Hilfe Ausbildung verrät ihr, dass Hera eine verhärtete Bauchdecke hat. Deshalb vermutet sie einen Darmverschluss und fordert, dass das Kind einen Arzt sehen müsse, der sich mit Kindern auskennt.
  • Agathon versucht Valerii an ihre Liebe zu Chief Tyrol und Admiral Adama zu erinnern, doch die ehemalige "Boomer" leugnet ihre Vergangenheit und lehnt jede Möglichkeit ab, dass Menschen und Zylonen zusammen existieren können und erinnert sie an die Ereignisse auf Neu Caprica.
  • Agathon geht zu Caprica-Sechs und sagt ihr, dass Hera nur überleben kann, wenn sie von einem menschlichen Arzt behandelt wird -- was eine Rückkehr zur Galactica bedeutet. Caprica-Sechs scheint nur ungern so weit gehen zu wollen, doch Agathon sagt ihr, dass das Kind für den Zylonengott so wichtig ist dass er es nie verzeihen würde wenn das Kind sterben würde. Inzwischen wächst Valerii Zorn zunehmend und sie droht Hera den Hals zu brechen. Agathon plädiert für das Leben ihrer Tochter während Caprica-Sechs es gelingt Valerii bewusstlos zu schlagen. Um sie daran zu hindern ihre Flucht zu vereiteln bricht Sechs Valerii den Hals.
  • Caprica-Sechs willigt schließlich ein, dass Hera (und andere, die ihr nachkommen) für die Zukunft der Zylonen (und, angedeutet, für die Zukunft der Menschheit) zu wichtig ist, um sie in den Händen der Zylonen zu lassen. Sie hilft Agathon das Basisschiff in einem gestohlenen Raptor zu verlassen und zur Galactica zurückzukehren.

Act 3

  • Im Tempel der Fünf entdeckt Baltar eine Handwaffe, die die Kolonialen vergessen haben. Cavil und D'Anna erforschen den Tempel. When the virtual Six points out the only mandala on a raised section of the floor, Baltar notes it, and Three gravitates to it as well.
  • The light created by the supernova is channeled through the central spire's crystalline mechanisms and activates a beam of light on the floor's sunburst.
  • Cavil attempts to stop the Three from using the beam, and tells her he knows that she's not doing this to find Earth, but to seek the forbidden identities of the Final Five. He points a gun to shoot Three, but Baltar shoots and kills the Cavil from behind.
  • Three walks into the light and immediately sees the vision of the five she's seen before. Unlike before, however, she is able to discern the specific faces. Three stands in front of one face (not visible to viewers) and immediately recognizes it, apologizing to the being for past transgressions saying, "You . . . Forgive me I . . . I had no idea," before the vision abruptly stops.
  • Dualla manages to fly the Raptor into space, with Starbuck's guidance.
  • Admiral Adama orders an immediate Raptor rescue of everyone on the planet after the Cylons baseships retreat to escape the pending nova shockwave.
  • Three's eyes cloud as she apparently suffers fatal damage from the Temple's vision mechanism. Baltar catches her as she falls.
  • She says to Baltar, "You were right." (It is possible she still thinks she is speaking to one of the Final Five.) Baltar tries to get Three to tell her what she has seen; specifically, Baltar wants to know if she saw his face among the image of five beings. However, Three dies before he gets an answer.
  • Baltar drops Three's body and stands in the mandala, attempting to see the vision himself. However, the Temple's illumination from the star has ceased, and so has the vision mechanism. As Baltar prays to God to help him, he finds the barrel of a Colonial sidearm resting on his head, and Chief Tyrol is holding it. The Chief sarcastically greets the deposed president and pistol-whips him unconscious.

Act 4

  • Raptors are seen flying away from the planet and to Galactica. The battlestar is under full sublight power, escaping from orbit while buying time for the Raptors to land and for the battlestar to prep for an FTL jump. The nova shockwave is approaching rapidly.
  • Galactica barely escapes the remains of the algae planet as the star's shockwave tears through its system. She momentarily reels out of control due to the leading edges of the shockwave reaching her before her escape.
  • Chief Tyrol and his group unload a body bag from his Raptor onto a gurney. He stops the gurney and discreetly shows Colonel Tigh that Baltar is inside, alive but unconscious. Tigh orders Tyrol to have Baltar taken to the brig.
  • Samuel Anders and Kara Thrace reunite. Lee Adama and Dualla, each on opposite sides of Thrace and Anders, see this as well. Adama moves to embrace his wife. Thrace and Adama's eyes meet over the shoulders of their spouses.
  • In a briefing, Tyrol, Lieutenant Gaeta, Roslin, Admiral Adama and Helo analyze the new supernova and compare it to the Temple's mandala, realizing that the Thirteenth Tribe must have wanted anyone who followed after them to look for this mandala, or specifically, another supernova. Gaeta finds the remains of a similar supernova 13,000 light years away, in a cloud of gas know as the Ionian nebula.
  • Helo is fascinated by a picture of the temple's mandala. He makes his way to Kara Thrace's quarters and asks if she had any photos of her old apartment on Caprica.
  • He finds a painting that Thrace had made on one of her apartment's walls. It is very similar to the temple's mandala, which was created 4,000 years before.
  • When Thrace sees this, her mood darkens. She tells Helo that she had doodled this symbol often as child because she liked the patterns, having no prior source for the symbol. She relates something that a Leoben Cylon told her over a year before: Thrace had a destiny, and, according to Leoben, it was already pre-written.
  • On the Resurrection Ship, D'Anna-Three downloads successfully to find a Cavil sitting next to her tank. Cavil notes curiously that at least Three will not have to go through the process of resurrection again, and explains why.
  • The other Cylons believe that Three's delusions of messianic intentions have revealed her as an inherently flawed design. Three counters that it is not wrong to seek ones own purpose, that the search for who and why the Cylons were built is an important task.
  • The decision has been made to box the entire model. Three tells Cavil that he and the others will see the faces of the Final Five one day, but with a press of a button by Cavil, Three and all of her kind are deactivated. The scene expands to show other Cavils performing the same task on hundreds of other resurrection tanks.
