*[[William Adama|Admiral Adama]] rasiert sich und schneidet sich, weil das Licht kurz flackert.
*[[Laura Roslin]] ruft Adama an und fordert ihn humorvoll auf, sie zu motivieren, endlich aus dem Bett zu steigen, um sich erneut dem [[Am Scheideweg, Teil I|Gericht]] zu stellen, was sie nicht gerne tuen will.
*Nach einem erfolglosen Versuch, startet Adama einen zweiten: "Schwingen sie ihren fetten, faulen Hintern aus den Federn, Roslin!", was Roslin zum Lachen bringt. Sie bedankt sich herzlich bei ihm und er rät ihr noch, dass sie keine Schwäche zeigen soll.
*[[Galen Tyrol]] summt halb wach die Melodie. Er verlässt sein Bett und anschließend sein Quartier.
*[[Samuel Anders]] und [[Tory Foster]] kuscheln gerade miteinander, als sie die [[Die Melodie|seltsame Melodie]] hört. Nachdem sie es erwähnt, ist  Anders davon überrascht, denn er hat sie zuvor auch gehört.

===Akt 1===
*Roslin bekommt in der Krankenstation ihre erste [[Doloxan]] Behandlung. Nachdem sie sich hinlegt um sich auszuruhen, erfährt sie den selben [[Opernhaus Prophezeiung|Traum]] wie [[Sharon Agathon]], die mit [[Hera Agathon|ihrer Tochter]] ebenfalls in der Krankenstation liegt, und beide beginnen gleichzeitig zu schreien. Die beiden wollen sich privat sprechen.
*Später treffen sich Roslin und Sharon Agathon mit [[Caprica-Sechs]], die den selben Traum geträumt hat. Nachdem sie gefragt wird, warum sie Hera versucht hat Hera zu erreichen, sagt sie, dass sie gefühlt hat, dass sie das Kind mit ihrem Leben beschützen muss.
*Von der Musik langsam in den Wahnsinn getrieben stellt [[Saul Tigh]] bei einer privaten Unterhaltung mit Admiral Adama die Theorie auf, dass die Zylonen die Musik in das Schiff eingebaut haben müssen. Adama behauptet, dass er ihm glaubt und wird die Sache untersuchen lassen, doch jetzt muss er zu Gericht.
*Der Prozess wird fortgesetzt. Lt. [[Felix Gaeta]] ist im Zeugenstand. Die [[Am Abgrund|Todesliste]] von [[Neu Caprica]], die einst von Präsident Gaius Baltar unterzeichnet wurde, wird von Staatsanwältin [[Cassidy]] als Beweismittel herumgereicht. Auf die Frage, ob es sich um eine Fälschung handeln kann, antwortet Gaeta, dass das Dokument sicher von Baltar unterschrieben wurde, denn er war dabei als das geschah. Baltar protestiert vergeblich.
*Während Gaeta die gelogene Geschichte der Ereignisse erzählt, dass sich Baltar dem Unterzeichnen nicht widersetzte, kann der Zuschauer in einer Rückblende die Wahrheit sehen, wie Baltar mit Waffengewalt dazu gezwungen wurde, die Liste zu unterschreiben.
*Lampkin verzichtet darauf, Gaeta ins Kreuzverhör zu nehmen – es stände sowieso Gaetas Wort gegen das von Baltar. Der Prozess wird pausiert.
===Akt 2===
*Nach einer Pause beginnt die Verteidigung den Fall vorzutragen.
*Lampkin möchte gerne die Prozessführung beanstanden. Baltar legt heftigen Widerstand dagegen ein. Lampkin wird nach seinen Gründen gefragt und begründet es damit, dass Admiral Adama bereits ein Urteil gefällt hat. Um es zu beweisen bittet er Mr. Lee Adama in den Zeugenstand.
*Mr. Adama lehnt es zuerst ab, gegen seinen Vater auszusagen. Lampkin verrät ihm, dass Gaetas Aussage ihr Ruin war und, dass dies der einzige Weg sei, diesen Fall noch zu gewinnen. Lampkin sagt Lee Adama, dass es seine Entscheidung sei, auszusagen oder nicht, doch er ruft ihn jetzt in den Zeugenstand.
*Die Staatsanwältin legt heftigen Protest ein, doch Lampkin sagt, dass er mindestens sieben Präzedenzfälle auswendig kennt, also wird ihm erlaubt, seinen Zeugen aufzurufen.
*Lampkin fragt Mr. Adama, ob er vor vier Tagen seinen Vater getroffen hat, und ob er sich zu Baltars Prozess geäußert hat, ob der Angeklagte seiner Meinung nach einen Prozess verdient.
*Lee Adama weigert sich jedoch diese Frage zu beantworten, woraufhin Lampkin seine Frage anders stellt. Er will nun von ihm wissen, ob er denkt, dass der Angeklagte einen fairen Prozess verdient hat.
*Mr. Adama ist der Meinung, dass er das tut. Als er danach fragt warum, antwortet er, dass jeder einen fairen Prozess verdient und, dass er Baltar für unschuldig hält. Die Staatsanwältin versucht, Mr. Adama aus dem Zeugenstand zu bekommen, wogegen Lee Adama auch nicht widerspricht, doch Admiral Adama würde die Befragung gerne fortführen lassen.
*Lampkin fragt Mr. Adama, warum er der Auffassung ist, dass Baltar den Freispruch verdient. Er antwortet, dass keiner der Beweise die Anklagepunkte unterstützt. Lampkin ist mit dieser Aussage jedoch noch nicht zufrieden, also sagt Adama weiter, dass Baltar gar keine Andere Wahl gehabt hätte, als sich zu ergeben. Er fragt das Tribunal, was sie an seiner Stelle getan hätten. Hätte Baltar sich nicht ergeben, hätten die Zylonen doch sofort alle umgebracht. Er erinnert daran, dass hunderte anderer Menschen ebenfalls für die Zylonen gearbeitet haben und, dass allen vergeben wurde. Zum Beispiel starben durch Col. Tighs Selbstmordattentäter Dutzende Menschen, Lt. Agathon und Chief Tyrol [[Pegasus (Episode)|ermordeten]] einen [[Alastair Thorne|Offizier]] auf der [[Pegasus (RDM)|Pegasus]], Admiral Adama verübte einen [[Kobol, Teil I|Militärputsch]] gegen Roslin, und er selbst zerstörte ein ziviles ''[[Olympic Carrier|Passagierschiff]]'', richtete seine Waffe gegen einen vorgesetzten Offizier und meuterte und [[Das neue Caprica, Teil II|an dem Tag]], als Baltar sich den Zylonen ergeben hat, ließ er alle Menschen auf dem [[Neu Caprica|Planeten]] im Stich und ist mit seinem Schiff davongesprungen und wäre es nach ihm gegangen wären sie nie wieder [[Schlacht von Neu Caprica|zurückgekehrt]]. All dies wurde vergeben.
*Mr. Adama ist der Meinung, dass sie nun ihre eigenen Gesetze erfinden, denn sie sind keine echte Zivilisation mehr, sondern eine Gang, die auf der Flucht ist. Dazu gehört das Brechen von Regeln, überschreiten von Gesetzen und heftiges Improvisieren. Nur in Baltars Fall nicht. Und warum?, weil er arrogant, schwach und ein Feigling ist. Weil er nicht freiwillig auf Neu Caprica gestorben ist, müsse er jetzt exekutiert werden.
*Adama glaubt, dass dieser Fall auf Emotionen und Schande aus den Ereignissen von Neu Caprica gebaut ist, und die Schande derjenigen, die davongelaufen sind. Während er das sagt, blickt er seinem Vater in die Augen.
*Er glaubt, dass das Volk nun die eigene Schuld auf ihn projiziert, um ihn für die eigenen Sünden sterben zu lassen. Und, dass das keine Gerechtigkeit ist, zumindest nicht für ihn.
* Der Staatsanwalt nimmt Mr. Adama nicht ins Kreuzverhör, und die Verteidigung ruht.
*Das Tribunal steht auf um sich zurückzuziehen, während Roslin zu Cassidy geht, um sie für ihre Arbeit zu beglückwünschen.
===Akt 3===
*Das Tribunal betritt den Gerichtssaal und verkündet, dass die Entscheidung gefällt wurde, dass er mit 3 Stimmen gegen 2 für für nicht schuldig befindet. Der Urteilsspruch sorgt selbstverständlich für große Aufregung und Freude auf der einen, sowie bittere Enttäuschung und Wut auf der anderen Seite. [[Marines]] versuchen Baltar in Sicherheit zu bringen, während die Presse einige Leute interviewt.
*Wenig später räumt Baltar seine Zelle aus und bedankt sich bei Lee Adama und Lampkin für deren Hilfe. Als er einen Scherz über Admiral Adama macht, droht Lee Adama ihm, es nicht zu übertreiben.
* Als Baltar Lampkin bittet, ihn in bei einer Buchtour zu begleiten, lehnt Lampkin das ab und erzählt ihm, dass seine Talente jetzt anderswo benötigt werden.
* Baltar erkennt plötzlich, dass er trotz seiner wiedergewonnenen Freiheit, ohne Arbeit, Freunde und sogar ohne Quartier da steht.
*Lampkin und Mr. Adama verabschieden sich voneinander. Bevor Lampkin geht will Lee Adama aber noch wissen, ob Lampkin gewusst habe, was im Zeugenstand passieren würde. Lampkin verzichtet auf eine direkte Antwort und zieht stattdessen seine Sonnenbrille auf, stellt seine Krücke beiseite und geht fort, ganz ohne zu humpeln. Lee Adama begreift, dass er ihn nur aus einem weiteren psychologischen Grund verwendet hat.
*Roslin spricht im [[CIC]] mit Admiral Adama. Sie ist von dem Urteil empört. Adama erinnert Roslin aber daran, dass "nicht schuldig" nicht das selbe bedeutet wie "unschuldig."
*Roslin, die davon ausgegangen ist, dass Adama für "schuldig" gestimmt hat, begreift nun (geschockt und verärgert), dass der Admiral für "unschuldig" gestimmt hat. Er gibt zu, dass er in der Tat dafür gestimmt, Baltar freizusprechen, weil die Verteidigung überzeugend war und die Staatsanwaltschaft nicht.
*Adama sagt Roslin, dass keiner erwartet, dass irgendjemand vergisst, oder vergibt, aber sie müssten jetzt ihren Blick nach vorne werfen.
*Adama befiehlt den letzten Sprung zum [[Ionischer Nebel|Ionischen Nebel]].
* Gaius Baltar versucht unauffällig zu bleibe, während er seine Sachen woanders hin trägt, doch alle Augen richten sich auf ihn.
*Der Sprung ist erfolgreich und Adama verlangt eine [[DRADIS]]-Überprüfung um zu sehen, was dort draußen ist. In diesem Moment erleidet Roslin seinen Schwächeanfall.
*Nachdem Admiral Adama einen besorgten Blick auf Roslin wirft, fällt die Hauptenergie auf jedem Schiff der [[Die Flotte (RDM)|Flotte]] aus und alle Schiffe, einschließlich der ''Galactica'', treiben gefährlich nahe beieinander im All.
===Akt 4===
*Piloten laufen mit [[Taschenlampe]]n zu ihren Stationen, während man im CIC versucht die Bordaggregate zu aktivieren, doch man bekommt nur Energie aus den Batterien.
*In der aufkommenden Aufregung irrt Baltar durch die Gänge der ''Galactica'', bis er schließlich von den Mitgliedern seiner Sekte eingekreist wird, die ihn in sein neues Leben führen möchten.
*In der Brig hat Caprica-Sechs wieder den Traum vom [[Opernhaus]], in dem Gaius Baltar Hera trägt und Caprica-Sechs neben ihm steht. Über ihnen sehen sie [[Letzten Fünf|fünf]] leuchtende Personen. Caprica-Sechs erwacht aus ihrem Traum, ohne die Gesichter der Fünf erkennen zu können.
*Auf dem Hangardeck rennen derweil alle durcheinander. Galen Tyrol gibt Anweisungen bis er die Melodie wahrnimmt und plötzlich feststellt: "There must be a way out of here".
*"Said the joker to the thief", fügt Colonel Tigh woanders auf dem Schiff hinzu und macht sich genauso wie der Chief auf den Weg, irgendwohin. Sam, von der Musik ebenfalls irgendwohin getrieben, beklagt sich über "too much confusion", und Tory, die von der Melodie körperlich so mitgenommen ist, dass sie sich übergeben muss, vervollständigt das Liedertext-Zitieren mit einem "I can't get no relief".
*Während man als Zuschauer die Musik immer lauter und dynamischer hört, gehen alle vier auf einen bestimmten Punkt im Schiff zu.
*Schließlich treffen sie sich in der Sporthalle. Jeder von ihnen ist geschockt und fassungslos. Als letztes kommt Tigh hinzu. Kurzzeitig summen sie alle die Melodie, bis Tigh wütend den Befehl gibt, die Luken zu verriegeln.
*Tigh spricht von seiner Zeit im Dienst, dass er in zwei Kriegen gekämpft hat und über den Kerker auf Neu Caprica und Ellen. Anders muss and den Widerstand denken; keiner will es wahrhaben, bis Tyrol das unfassbare ausspricht: Sie alle sind [[Zylonen (RDM)|Zylonen]]; und waren es von Anfang an.
*Nachdem die Energie auf allen Schiffen wiederhergestellt wurde, fängt das DRADIS eine große Zylonenflotte auf, die auf sie zukommt. Admiral Adama befiehlt [[Karl Agathon|Helo]], der amtierende [[XO]], dass die Flotte sofort zu den [[Notfall-Sprungkoordinaten]] springen soll, doch Helo sagt, dass aufgrund des Stromausfalls ist dies erst in frühestens 20 Minuten möglich ist. Der Admiral sagt, dass sie keine 20 Minuten mehr haben. [[Felix Gaeta]] ruft inzwischen alle auf die [[Gefechtsstationen]].
*In der Sporthalle beschließt Tigh, egal was sie jetzt über sich selbst denken, dass sie sofort wieder ihre Jobs erledigen müssen, denn das Schiff wird angegriffen. Tory folgt Tigh ins CIC, während Tyrol und Anders aufs [[Hangardeck]] gehen.
*Auf dem Hangardeck geht es bereits hektisch zu, als Chief Tyrol dort ankommt und gleich befiehlt, dass eine Viper in eine [[Startröhre (RDM)|Startröhre ]] geschoben werden soll.
*Lee Adama, der gerade einen Gang entlang geht, wird von hektischen Piloten aus dem Weg gestoßen. Nach kurzem überlegen beschließt er, ihnen zu folgen.
*Admiral Adama befiehlt, dass alle [[Nuklearwaffen]] scharf gemacht werden sollen. Tigh meldet sich auf seinem Posten und versichert Adama, dass er auf ihn zählen kann. Gleichzeitig versichert Tory Foster Roslin, dass sie für sie da ist.
*Lee Adama schnappt sich aus seinem Quartier einen Helm, seinen Fluganzug und macht sich auf den Weg zu einer Viper.
*Während die ersten Vipern ins Gefecht ziehen, ist "All along the watchtower" zum ersten Mal richtig zu hören. [[Helo]] ist verwundert über den Start von Viper 3.
*Apollo meldet sich aus Viper 3 und meldet, dass er auf dem DRADIS seiner [[Viper Mark VII|Viper]] einen Bösewicht entdeckt hat und will ihn sich schnappen. Während er sich umschaut erscheint und verschwindet immer wieder das, nur für den Zuschauer als [[Viper Mark II]] erkennbare, Flugobjekt in den Wolken und auf dem DRADIS. Das Flugobjekt zischt einmal blitzschnell an Apollo vorbei und beunruhigt ihn dadurch.
*Kurz darauf fliegt eine unbeschädigte Viper neben ihm her. [[Kara Thrace|Starbuck]] begrüßt Apollo. Sie sagt ihm dass er nicht durchdrehen soll. Sie sei es wirklich.

*Die [[Ruf aus dem Jenseits|totgeglaubte]] Pilotin erzählt Apollo, dass sie auf der [[Neue Erde|Erde]] war und, dass sie die Flotte dorthinführen kann.
*Die Art und Intesität der Musik verändert sich von der [[w:sitar|Sitar]] in eine extrem laute Rock Version.
*Während die Musik weiterläuft, ändert sich die Perspektive des Zuschauers. Das Bild fährt an Apollo und Starbucks Viper vorbei, vorbei an der Kolonialflotte, der zylonischen Flotte und einigen Planeten des Systems und hält dann weit draußen im All an und zeigt dem Zuschauer einen Arm der [[w:Milchstraße|Milchstraße]].
* Zum Schluss fährt die Kamera wieder nach vorne und hält an etwa der gleichen Stelle in der Galaxis an und zeigt dem Zuschauer einen bekannten, blau-grünen Planeten,: Die Erde. Und man erkennt deutlich den nordamerikanischen Kontinent.

To this end, the Sagittarons were to be developed over several episodes, but this idea was scrapped because it didn't work out; with episodes like "[[Dirty Hands]]" rewritten and scenes in other episodes cut. Remnants of this plot can still be seen in "[[Taking a Break From All Your Worries]]" and "[[The Woman King]]" ([[Battlestar Galactica: The Official Companion Season Three]]).
== Analysis ==
* With the revelation that [[Galen Tyrol]] is a [[Humanoid Cylon|Cylon]], the second known Human-Cylon hybrid known to exist is in the form of [[Nicholas Tyrol]]. His birth reinforces the Cylon belief that love is a necessary component to successful procreation. This would make one male and one female hybrid born to date. There may be significant biological differences between the two hybrids; one was carried to term by a human while the other was carried to term by a Cylon. This assumes Galen really is the father; there is strong evidence but no definitive proof of that.
* The reason for Tyrol's discovery of the [[Temple of Five]] on the [[algae planet]] is better explained here, however it is clearly apparent that his conscious mind is unable to rationalize the reason he discovers it.
* It is also reaffirmed that none of the original seven are aware of the Final Five. As demonstrated by [[Sharon Valerii]]'s lack of knowledge about Galen Tyrol's true nature during her relationship with him in [[Season 1 (2004-05)|Season 1]] and the torture of Saul Tigh on New Caprica by the Cylons.
* Intrepid viewers are quick to note that Tigh and Tyrol demonstrate no ill effects to the radiation from [[Ragnar]] in the [[Miniseries]]. However, [[Sharon Valerii]] was also exposed to Ragnar's radiation, and suffered no ill effects. It should also be noted that ''Galactica'' herself has radiation shielding, which is designed to protect her crew from hard nuclear-class radiation, as demonstrated in the Miniseries after the nuclear warhead's impact. * Saul Tigh has been known to physically exist for roughly 30 years as of this episode. While Tigh claims to have fought in the first Cylon War, aside from likely military documentation about his service in the war, there are no supporting non-Cylon witnesses to support his claim. This predates the two-year marker previously indicated by two known infiltrators, [[Caprica-Six]] and [[Sharon Valerii]].
* A bit of potential, if not ironic, foreshadowing is seen regarding Tyrol being a Cylon in [[Season 2 (2005-06)|Season 2]]'s "[[Resistance (episode)|Resistance]]". In that episode, upon returning to ''Galactica'' from [[Kobol (RDM)|Kobol]], Galen Tyrol is suspected to be a Cylon agent by none other than Colonel Tigh.
* As described by Tyrol when the four meet, the music and the Fleet's arrival to the nebula set off a switch within the minds of the four Cylons. However, unlike Boomer, their Cylon natures do not come with a different set of memories or personality.

Her reasons being that she believed Lee Adama has a sense of right and wrong that others don't have at that time. Her belief about Lee comes back to haunt her as he rightly points out that her broad forgiveness policy for all within the Fleet after the second Exodus should be applied to Baltar as well. Her fear and knowledge of Baltar's involvement with the genocide of the Colonies has clouded her judgment to extend her original act of grace to Baltar.
* Lampkin apparently was telling the truth that all he had wanted was to have the glory of being the attorney for the most hated man of the Fleet. Once his job is accomplished, he cleans his hands of Baltar, and makes it clear that besides the trial, he does not want to be associated with Baltar.
* Starbuck's last words in the episode allude back to "[[Maelstrom]]" as she is taking on the role of the [[Aurora, Goddess of the Dawn|Aurora]] idol that she gave to Adama before her "death." She claims that, like the idol placed on the model ship, she will be leading the way to Earth.

*After Jamie Bamber (Apollo) delivered his character's courtroom speech for the first take, the entire cast (who were sitting in the stands) and crew gave him a standing ovation.

Überblick

Da Gaeta, betreffs der Todesliste, die der beschuldigte auf Neu Caprica unterzeichnete, gegen Baltar aussagt, bemekrt Roslin einen beunruhigenden Zusammenhang zwischen ihren Träume und dem Opernhaus auf Kobol. Lee Adama kehrt die Verhandlung mit einem geschickten Zug um und einige Leute machen eine beunruhigende Entdeckung von sich.

Zusammenfassung

Eröffnungsszene

  • Admiral Adama rasiert sich und schneidet sich, weil das Licht kurz flackert.
  • Laura Roslin ruft Adama an und fordert ihn humorvoll auf, sie zu motivieren, endlich aus dem Bett zu steigen, um sich erneut dem Gericht zu stellen, was sie nicht gerne tuen will.
  • Nach einem erfolglosen Versuch, startet Adama einen zweiten: "Schwingen sie ihren fetten, faulen Hintern aus den Federn, Roslin!", was Roslin zum Lachen bringt. Sie bedankt sich herzlich bei ihm und er rät ihr noch, dass sie keine Schwäche zeigen soll.
  • Galen Tyrol summt halb wach die Melodie. Er verlässt sein Bett und anschließend sein Quartier.
  • Samuel Anders und Tory Foster kuscheln gerade miteinander, als sie die seltsame Melodie hört. Nachdem sie es erwähnt, ist Anders davon überrascht, denn er hat sie zuvor auch gehört.
  • Diana Seelix klopft an die Türe und Anders öffnet sie. Eine unangenehme Stille bricht dann zwischen Seelix, Anders und Foster aus.
  • Tyrol geht in einen anderen Bereich des Schiffes, bis er vor einem großen Ventilator steht. Dort kann er die Melodie besser hören.
  • Lee Adama schlägt vor, den Prozess von Gaius Baltar zu beanstanden, da er der Meinung ist, dass ihre gegenwärtigen Erfolge den Ausgang des Prozesses verschlechtern. Baltar ist von dem Vorschlag aufgeregt und wütend, da er glaubt, dass Adama und Lampkin den Fall nur so schnell wie möglich loswerden wollen.
  • Romo Lampkin, Baltars Verteidiger, ist geneigt, Adama zustimmen, aber das Zitat des jungen Adama der Worte seines Vaters über den "verräterischen Mistkerl" Baltar, veranlässt ihn dazu, umzudenken.
  • Baltar möchte keine Neuauflage des Prozesses. Er will ein Urteil und das so schnell wie möglich.
  • Racetrack unterrichtet Seelix, Anders, und andere Raptor Grünschnäbel, als Anders das Summen von Chief Tyrol wahrnimmt. Er humpelt zu ihm hinüber und spricht ihn darauf an. Beide haben das Gefühl, dass sich die Melodie anhöre wie etwas aus ihrer Kindheit, aber beide hören immer nur Teile davon.
  • Bevore die beiden der Sache nachgehen können, schreit Racetrack Anders an, dass er wieder zur Gruppe zurückkommen soll.

Akt 1

  • Roslin bekommt in der Krankenstation ihre erste Doloxan Behandlung. Nachdem sie sich hinlegt um sich auszuruhen, erfährt sie den selben Traum wie Sharon Agathon, die mit ihrer Tochter ebenfalls in der Krankenstation liegt, und beide beginnen gleichzeitig zu schreien. Die beiden wollen sich privat sprechen.
  • Später treffen sich Roslin und Sharon Agathon mit Caprica-Sechs, die den selben Traum geträumt hat. Nachdem sie gefragt wird, warum sie Hera versucht hat Hera zu erreichen, sagt sie, dass sie gefühlt hat, dass sie das Kind mit ihrem Leben beschützen muss.
  • Von der Musik langsam in den Wahnsinn getrieben stellt Saul Tigh bei einer privaten Unterhaltung mit Admiral Adama die Theorie auf, dass die Zylonen die Musik in das Schiff eingebaut haben müssen. Adama behauptet, dass er ihm glaubt und wird die Sache untersuchen lassen, doch jetzt muss er zu Gericht.
  • Der Prozess wird fortgesetzt. Lt. Felix Gaeta ist im Zeugenstand. Die Todesliste von Neu Caprica, die einst von Präsident Gaius Baltar unterzeichnet wurde, wird von Staatsanwältin Cassidy als Beweismittel herumgereicht. Auf die Frage, ob es sich um eine Fälschung handeln kann, antwortet Gaeta, dass das Dokument sicher von Baltar unterschrieben wurde, denn er war dabei als das geschah. Baltar protestiert vergeblich.
  • Während Gaeta die gelogene Geschichte der Ereignisse erzählt, dass sich Baltar dem Unterzeichnen nicht widersetzte, kann der Zuschauer in einer Rückblende die Wahrheit sehen, wie Baltar mit Waffengewalt dazu gezwungen wurde, die Liste zu unterschreiben.
  • Lampkin verzichtet darauf, Gaeta ins Kreuzverhör zu nehmen – es stände sowieso Gaetas Wort gegen das von Baltar. Der Prozess wird pausiert.

Akt 2

  • Nach einer Pause beginnt die Verteidigung den Fall vorzutragen.
  • Lampkin möchte gerne die Prozessführung beanstanden. Baltar legt heftigen Widerstand dagegen ein. Lampkin wird nach seinen Gründen gefragt und begründet es damit, dass Admiral Adama bereits ein Urteil gefällt hat. Um es zu beweisen bittet er Mr. Lee Adama in den Zeugenstand.
  • Mr. Adama lehnt es zuerst ab, gegen seinen Vater auszusagen. Lampkin verrät ihm, dass Gaetas Aussage ihr Ruin war und, dass dies der einzige Weg sei, diesen Fall noch zu gewinnen. Lampkin sagt Lee Adama, dass es seine Entscheidung sei, auszusagen oder nicht, doch er ruft ihn jetzt in den Zeugenstand.
  • Die Staatsanwältin legt heftigen Protest ein, doch Lampkin sagt, dass er mindestens sieben Präzedenzfälle auswendig kennt, also wird ihm erlaubt, seinen Zeugen aufzurufen.
  • Lampkin fragt Mr. Adama, ob er vor vier Tagen seinen Vater getroffen hat, und ob er sich zu Baltars Prozess geäußert hat, ob der Angeklagte seiner Meinung nach einen Prozess verdient.
  • Lee Adama weigert sich jedoch diese Frage zu beantworten, woraufhin Lampkin seine Frage anders stellt. Er will nun von ihm wissen, ob er denkt, dass der Angeklagte einen fairen Prozess verdient hat.
  • Mr. Adama ist der Meinung, dass er das tut. Als er danach fragt warum, antwortet er, dass jeder einen fairen Prozess verdient und, dass er Baltar für unschuldig hält. Die Staatsanwältin versucht, Mr. Adama aus dem Zeugenstand zu bekommen, wogegen Lee Adama auch nicht widerspricht, doch Admiral Adama würde die Befragung gerne fortführen lassen.
  • Lampkin fragt Mr. Adama, warum er der Auffassung ist, dass Baltar den Freispruch verdient. Er antwortet, dass keiner der Beweise die Anklagepunkte unterstützt. Lampkin ist mit dieser Aussage jedoch noch nicht zufrieden, also sagt Adama weiter, dass Baltar gar keine Andere Wahl gehabt hätte, als sich zu ergeben. Er fragt das Tribunal, was sie an seiner Stelle getan hätten. Hätte Baltar sich nicht ergeben, hätten die Zylonen doch sofort alle umgebracht. Er erinnert daran, dass hunderte anderer Menschen ebenfalls für die Zylonen gearbeitet haben und, dass allen vergeben wurde. Zum Beispiel starben durch Col. Tighs Selbstmordattentäter Dutzende Menschen, Lt. Agathon und Chief Tyrol ermordeten einen Offizier auf der Pegasus, Admiral Adama verübte einen Militärputsch gegen Roslin, und er selbst zerstörte ein ziviles Passagierschiff, richtete seine Waffe gegen einen vorgesetzten Offizier und meuterte und an dem Tag, als Baltar sich den Zylonen ergeben hat, ließ er alle Menschen auf dem Planeten im Stich und ist mit seinem Schiff davongesprungen und wäre es nach ihm gegangen wären sie nie wieder zurückgekehrt. All dies wurde vergeben.
  • Mr. Adama ist der Meinung, dass sie nun ihre eigenen Gesetze erfinden, denn sie sind keine echte Zivilisation mehr, sondern eine Gang, die auf der Flucht ist. Dazu gehört das Brechen von Regeln, überschreiten von Gesetzen und heftiges Improvisieren. Nur in Baltars Fall nicht. Und warum?, weil er arrogant, schwach und ein Feigling ist. Weil er nicht freiwillig auf Neu Caprica gestorben ist, müsse er jetzt exekutiert werden.
  • Adama glaubt, dass dieser Fall auf Emotionen und Schande aus den Ereignissen von Neu Caprica gebaut ist, und die Schande derjenigen, die davongelaufen sind. Während er das sagt, blickt er seinem Vater in die Augen.
  • Er glaubt, dass das Volk nun die eigene Schuld auf ihn projiziert, um ihn für die eigenen Sünden sterben zu lassen. Und, dass das keine Gerechtigkeit ist, zumindest nicht für ihn.
  • Der Staatsanwalt nimmt Mr. Adama nicht ins Kreuzverhör, und die Verteidigung ruht.
  • Das Tribunal steht auf um sich zurückzuziehen, während Roslin zu Cassidy geht, um sie für ihre Arbeit zu beglückwünschen.

Akt 3

  • Das Tribunal betritt den Gerichtssaal und verkündet, dass die Entscheidung gefällt wurde, dass er mit 3 Stimmen gegen 2 für für nicht schuldig befindet. Der Urteilsspruch sorgt selbstverständlich für große Aufregung und Freude auf der einen, sowie bittere Enttäuschung und Wut auf der anderen Seite. Marines versuchen Baltar in Sicherheit zu bringen, während die Presse einige Leute interviewt.
  • Wenig später räumt Baltar seine Zelle aus und bedankt sich bei Lee Adama und Lampkin für deren Hilfe. Als er einen Scherz über Admiral Adama macht, droht Lee Adama ihm, es nicht zu übertreiben.
  • Als Baltar Lampkin bittet, ihn in bei einer Buchtour zu begleiten, lehnt Lampkin das ab und erzählt ihm, dass seine Talente jetzt anderswo benötigt werden.
  • Baltar erkennt plötzlich, dass er trotz seiner wiedergewonnenen Freiheit, ohne Arbeit, Freunde und sogar ohne Quartier da steht.
  • Lampkin und Mr. Adama verabschieden sich voneinander. Bevor Lampkin geht will Lee Adama aber noch wissen, ob Lampkin gewusst habe, was im Zeugenstand passieren würde. Lampkin verzichtet auf eine direkte Antwort und zieht stattdessen seine Sonnenbrille auf, stellt seine Krücke beiseite und geht fort, ganz ohne zu humpeln. Lee Adama begreift, dass er ihn nur aus einem weiteren psychologischen Grund verwendet hat.
  • Roslin spricht im CIC mit Admiral Adama. Sie ist von dem Urteil empört. Adama erinnert Roslin aber daran, dass "nicht schuldig" nicht das selbe bedeutet wie "unschuldig."
  • Roslin, die davon ausgegangen ist, dass Adama für "schuldig" gestimmt hat, begreift nun (geschockt und verärgert), dass der Admiral für "unschuldig" gestimmt hat. Er gibt zu, dass er in der Tat dafür gestimmt, Baltar freizusprechen, weil die Verteidigung überzeugend war und die Staatsanwaltschaft nicht.
  • Adama sagt Roslin, dass keiner erwartet, dass irgendjemand vergisst, oder vergibt, aber sie müssten jetzt ihren Blick nach vorne werfen.
  • Adama befiehlt den letzten Sprung zum Ionischen Nebel.
  • Gaius Baltar versucht unauffällig zu bleibe, während er seine Sachen woanders hin trägt, doch alle Augen richten sich auf ihn.
  • Der Sprung ist erfolgreich und Adama verlangt eine DRADIS-Überprüfung um zu sehen, was dort draußen ist. In diesem Moment erleidet Roslin seinen Schwächeanfall.
  • Nachdem Admiral Adama einen besorgten Blick auf Roslin wirft, fällt die Hauptenergie auf jedem Schiff der Flotte aus und alle Schiffe, einschließlich der Galactica, treiben gefährlich nahe beieinander im All.

Akt 4

  • Piloten laufen mit Taschenlampen zu ihren Stationen, während man im CIC versucht die Bordaggregate zu aktivieren, doch man bekommt nur Energie aus den Batterien.
  • In der aufkommenden Aufregung irrt Baltar durch die Gänge der Galactica, bis er schließlich von den Mitgliedern seiner Sekte eingekreist wird, die ihn in sein neues Leben führen möchten.
  • In der Brig hat Caprica-Sechs wieder den Traum vom Opernhaus, in dem Gaius Baltar Hera trägt und Caprica-Sechs neben ihm steht. Über ihnen sehen sie fünf leuchtende Personen. Caprica-Sechs erwacht aus ihrem Traum, ohne die Gesichter der Fünf erkennen zu können.
  • Auf dem Hangardeck rennen derweil alle durcheinander. Galen Tyrol gibt Anweisungen bis er die Melodie wahrnimmt und plötzlich feststellt: "There must be a way out of here".
  • "Said the joker to the thief", fügt Colonel Tigh woanders auf dem Schiff hinzu und macht sich genauso wie der Chief auf den Weg, irgendwohin. Sam, von der Musik ebenfalls irgendwohin getrieben, beklagt sich über "too much confusion", und Tory, die von der Melodie körperlich so mitgenommen ist, dass sie sich übergeben muss, vervollständigt das Liedertext-Zitieren mit einem "I can't get no relief".
  • Während man als Zuschauer die Musik immer lauter und dynamischer hört, gehen alle vier auf einen bestimmten Punkt im Schiff zu.
  • Schließlich treffen sie sich in der Sporthalle. Jeder von ihnen ist geschockt und fassungslos. Als letztes kommt Tigh hinzu. Kurzzeitig summen sie alle die Melodie, bis Tigh wütend den Befehl gibt, die Luken zu verriegeln.
  • Tigh spricht von seiner Zeit im Dienst, dass er in zwei Kriegen gekämpft hat und über den Kerker auf Neu Caprica und Ellen. Anders muss and den Widerstand denken; keiner will es wahrhaben, bis Tyrol das unfassbare ausspricht: Sie alle sind Zylonen; und waren es von Anfang an.
  • Nachdem die Energie auf allen Schiffen wiederhergestellt wurde, fängt das DRADIS eine große Zylonenflotte auf, die auf sie zukommt. Admiral Adama befiehlt Helo, der amtierende XO, dass die Flotte sofort zu den Notfall-Sprungkoordinaten springen soll, doch Helo sagt, dass aufgrund des Stromausfalls ist dies erst in frühestens 20 Minuten möglich ist. Der Admiral sagt, dass sie keine 20 Minuten mehr haben. Felix Gaeta ruft inzwischen alle auf die Gefechtsstationen.
  • In der Sporthalle beschließt Tigh, egal was sie jetzt über sich selbst denken, dass sie sofort wieder ihre Jobs erledigen müssen, denn das Schiff wird angegriffen. Tory folgt Tigh ins CIC, während Tyrol und Anders aufs Hangardeck gehen.
  • Auf dem Hangardeck geht es bereits hektisch zu, als Chief Tyrol dort ankommt und gleich befiehlt, dass eine Viper in eine Startröhre geschoben werden soll.
  • Lee Adama, der gerade einen Gang entlang geht, wird von hektischen Piloten aus dem Weg gestoßen. Nach kurzem überlegen beschließt er, ihnen zu folgen.
  • Admiral Adama befiehlt, dass alle Nuklearwaffen scharf gemacht werden sollen. Tigh meldet sich auf seinem Posten und versichert Adama, dass er auf ihn zählen kann. Gleichzeitig versichert Tory Foster Roslin, dass sie für sie da ist.
  • Lee Adama schnappt sich aus seinem Quartier einen Helm, seinen Fluganzug und macht sich auf den Weg zu einer Viper.
  • Während die ersten Vipern ins Gefecht ziehen, ist "All along the watchtower" zum ersten Mal richtig zu hören. Helo ist verwundert über den Start von Viper 3.
  • Apollo meldet sich aus Viper 3 und meldet, dass er auf dem DRADIS seiner Viper einen Bösewicht entdeckt hat und will ihn sich schnappen. Während er sich umschaut erscheint und verschwindet immer wieder das, nur für den Zuschauer als Viper Mark II erkennbare, Flugobjekt in den Wolken und auf dem DRADIS. Das Flugobjekt zischt einmal blitzschnell an Apollo vorbei und beunruhigt ihn dadurch.
  • Kurz darauf fliegt eine unbeschädigte Viper neben ihm her. Starbuck begrüßt Apollo. Sie sagt ihm dass er nicht durchdrehen soll. Sie sei es wirklich.
Die Erde, wie sie in den letzten Sekunden der Episode zu sehen ist.
  • Die totgeglaubte Pilotin erzählt Apollo, dass sie auf der Erde war und, dass sie die Flotte dorthinführen kann.
  • Die Art und Intesität der Musik verändert sich von der Sitar in eine extrem laute Rock Version.
  • Während die Musik weiterläuft, ändert sich die Perspektive des Zuschauers. Das Bild fährt an Apollo und Starbucks Viper vorbei, vorbei an der Kolonialflotte, der zylonischen Flotte und einigen Planeten des Systems und hält dann weit draußen im All an und zeigt dem Zuschauer einen Arm der Milchstraße.
  • Zum Schluss fährt die Kamera wieder nach vorne und hält an etwa der gleichen Stelle in der Galaxis an und zeigt dem Zuschauer einen bekannten, blau-grünen Planeten,: Die Erde. Und man erkennt deutlich den nordamerikanischen Kontinent.
